President & Founder

Jamie Giellis is the founder and president of Centro, a consulting firm dedicated to strategic and thoughtful (re)investment in cities, places, and neighborhoods. Centro works with communities to establish a vision for their future and develops concrete steps to helps communities realize their fullest economic, social and cultural potential. To achieve this, she works closely with community members, businesses and local governments to form effective public/private partnerships and implement strategies, including special districts. Under her leadership and expertise, Centro has become an internationally sought-after resource for best-practices and proven-processes in supporting and enhancing quality the viability and sustainability of communities large and small

Jamie has more than two decades of experience in this work and has served more than 70 communities across the U.S. as well as extensive work in Singapore and the UK. She has established, renewed, expanded and reimagined some 80 special districts internationally. She served on the Board of Directors for the International Downtown Association for six years, overseeing the development of conference programming and developing an emerging leader program.

Giellis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Communications from the University of Iowa and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from the University of Colorado. She lives in Denver with her husband Chris, her stepson Jackson and her dog Bruges.
